Caryn McTighe Musil

Caryn McTighe Musil is Senior Vice President for the Association of American Colleges & Universities (AAC&U), where she heads the office of Diversity, Equity, and Global Initiatives. Musil also serves as AAC&U’s Director of the Program on the Status and Education of Women, which produces a tri-quarterly online newsletter, generates publications, offers workshops, and provides national leadership on issues concerning women in higher education. Musil has been writing, teaching, and speaking on women, gender, and diversity throughout her career. In 2005 she received the American Council on Education’s Donna Shavlik Award for Sustained and Continuing Commitment to Women’s Advancement in Higher Education. Before coming to AAC&U, she was a faculty member for 18 years and served for six years as Executive Director of the National Women’s Studies Association. Musil received her bachelor’s degree from Duke University and her master’s and doctorate in English from Northwestern University.
