Felecia Commodore is a native of the state MD hailing from the Eastern Shore. Having a passion for higher education, she began her work in the field as an admissions counselor at Trinity University, Washington, D.C. She then moved on to being the senior academic advisor for the Department of Government and Politics at the University of Maryland, College Park. While in that role she also was the advisor to the Black Political Student Association. Felecia received a B.S. in Marketing with a minor in Sociology Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. She has also obtained an M.A. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Maryland, College Park and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Her research focus area is HBCU leadership, governance, and administrative practices.
Felecia also sits on the board of directors for I.V.Y., Inc. (Instilling Values in You), a community faith-based organization that is rooted upon self-growth, education, empowerment, purpose, leadership and career achievement targeting teens and young adults. The sole purpose of I.V.Y. is to assist others, particularly young women, in building character and recognizing their purpose through group counseling and peer interaction. She has a passion for higher education and leadership and looks forward to making a difference in the field.
